Without top management support there are still opportunities and &quot;low hanging fruit&quot; that employees can implement on their own that will result in reducing the environmental footprint of their company.  The people in the job functions are often the best suited to identify and initiate steps that will reduce the water, energy, toxics or green house gas footprint related to the activities of their job, department or suppliers.  Important design improvements, sourcing decisions, or operational changes can be accomplished at any level.  In addition to the environmental benefit, those one off sustainability projects can be used to build the business case for a company to take a more strategic and company wide aproach to sustainabilty.</description>

A lot of companies are doing little things here and there - buying recycled content paper products, etc.- but don&#039;t understand what it takes to achieve employee buy-in and in measuring progress. Do you think it&#039;s possible for companies to succeed without buy-in from top management?</description>

		<description>Yes, there seems to be a steady trend of employees becoming more fully engaged in sustainability and incorporating sustainability into their daily job functions.  At some companies employees are taking it onto themselves to engage in sustainability as part of their job and at other companies it is the top down approach.</description>
